King County Local Services to host town halls for unincorporated areas of Federal Way, Auburn

A virtual town hall for East Federal Way residents is schedule for Tuesday, Sept. 8.

King County Local Services is kicking off this year’s series of virtual town halls with the unincorporated areas of Federal Way and Auburn. Participants will hear directly from their local government leaders, representatives from Local Services and other departments that serve the unincorporated areas will about delivery of services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year, hundreds of residents turned out to hear directly from King County leaders and officials, explore government services, and more at these events in their communities, according to a King County news release.

“During a pandemic or any health crisis, it’s important for South King County residents to know about the services that are available for them and their families,” said King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer. “Although this year’s town hall won’t be in person due to public health guidance, I hope my neighbors are able to join us for a virtual town hall to hear from department leaders across King County.”

Local Services officials hear every day how the lives of unincorporated King County residents have changed because of this pandemic, said Local Services Director John Taylor, and “our dedication to inform and hear directly from our communities is as important as ever.”

The first 10 weekly virtual town hall events will be held in September and October.

The East Federal Way Town Hall event will run from 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 8. Users can join via Zoom at https://kingcounty.zoom.us/j/9074762461. They can also join via phone by calling 253-215-8782 and providing the meeting ID number: 907 476 2461.
