One woman is in critical condition and two children also suffered injuries Sunday after a reckless driver caused a T-bone collision in Federal Way.
At about 1:10 p.m. July 12, South King Fire and Rescue personnel and Federal Way officers responded to reports of a two-vehicle serious injury collision in the 34400 block of Pacific Highway South.
The initial investigation indicates the suspect driver, a 21-year-old male, was driving recklessly and may have run a red light, causing a T-bone collision, said Cmdr. Kurt Schwan of Federal Way police.
The victim driver, a female in her 30s, was transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.
There were also two juvenile females in the victim’s vehicle, ages 5 and 11, who were transported with minor injuries.
Federal Way’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is responding and conducting the investigation, Schwan said.
Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the collision. The suspect will be arrested and booked into jail for vehicular assault, Schwan said.
Pacific Highway South was closed for an extended time in both directions from the intersection of 16th Avenue S. to S. 348th Street to allow MAIT to conduct the investigation.
