We Love Kent nonprofit, Union Gospel Mission and Pacific Coast Fruit Company recently provided 1,133 boxes — or 26,150 pounds — of fresh produce and dairy to Federal Way residents.

Volunteers with We Love Our City nonprofit and the Federal Way Senior Center Food Bank helped with driving, unloading, loading and distributing on July 2.

Food was distributed to 111 households on site.

Teams delivered and distributed food boxes to seven apartment complexes, individual homes, William J. Woods Veterans Center apartments, YMCA, FW Caregiving/Calvary Lutheran and one local church.

“That’s a whole lot of food going out to our community,” said Shelley Pauls, longtime community member and volunteer. “Thanks to all who make this happen each week!”
