Vandalism on video: At about 9:50 a.m. near the 3600 block of South 344th Street, a Federal Way Public Schools security officer reported that sometime overnight, some juveniles jumped over the fence surrounding the former DeVry building and damaged a variety of items in the parking garage. The suspects were captured on video, however the school security officer did not recognize the suspects. Federal Way police contacted the district’s School Resource Officers to identify the individuals. The case is inactive pending identification.

Stolen cash: At about 11:36 a.m. near the 2400 block of Southwest 336th Street, it was reported that a juvenile employee had stolen cash while he was working at the register of the Jack-in-the-Box restaurant. The store requested prosecution. This case has been sent to the Juvenile Prosecutor for review.

Message on the mirror: At about 3:09 p.m. near the 31900 block of 2nd Lane Southwest, a victim called to report a burglary in her new apartment. The victim stated she had been moving into her new apartment for the last couple weeks and noticed someone had scratched something into the bathroom mirror. She could not read what the scratch said, but someone told her it appeared to say a derogatory term. The victim wanted her apartment locks changed, but the management would not do so until she had a police case number. The victim said there doesn’t appear to be any forced entry or any items stolen. She also believes the incident has something to do with church, politics and the Black Lives Matter movement. There is no suspect information and the case is inactive pending new leads.

Possible pet poisoning: At around 7:18 p.m. near the 2050 block of South 308th Street, a man reported to Federal Way police that he is concerned his neighbor is trying to poison his dogs. The man and his neighbor share a backyard fence. The man reported he saw a blonde woman thrown something into his yard and his three dogs immediately ate it. The man could not describe what was thrown. The man told police that over the last six years, his family has had four dogs die in the same manner, which the vet had said was due to the dogs ingesting some unknown substance. An officer observed the three dogs and did not see any unusual behavior. The man told officers he also suspects the neighbor’s house is conducting human trafficking and drug dealing because there are so many people who come and go from the neighbor’s house. Officers then contacted the neighbors, who were cooperative. The blonde woman stated she had previously worked with the man’s mom to place the fence up and that she is concerned the man beats his dogs. The officer advised both parties to get along because there was currently no evidence of any harm to any animals.

June 20

Cut padlocks at the park: At about 5:06 a.m. near the 1000 block of South 324th Place, officers responded to a commercial alarm at Celebration Park. Officers found an open rolling door on the building and found two cut padlocks. Upon talking to Parks staff, it was determined nothing appeared to have been stolen.

Armed robbery: At about 7:19 a.m. near the 29625 block of Pacific Highway South, officers responded to an armed robbery at the Shell gas station. When officers arrived, the three suspects described as young men wearing dark clothes were gone. Two victims stated the boys had left on foot traveling west from the gas station. A K-9 track was initiated, but the suspects were not located.

Stolen Stihls: At about 6 a.m. near the 28900 block of 20th Avenue South, a man called to report a burglary. The man stated he went to bed the night before around 9 p.m. and left his garage door open. When he woke up at 5:30 the next morning, he discovered two items from inside his garage had been stolen. The stolen items included a Stihl weed eater and a Stihl pressure washer, with a total value for both items of around $700. There were no cameras at the residence or surrounding. Leads were exhausted and the case is inactive pending further leads.

Smokin’ guns: At about 9:59 p.m. near the 1400 block of South 324th Street, a man called to state he had been kicked out of the Federal Way Discount Guns store for “no reason.” When officers called the store, staff said they refused service to the man due to him smelling of marijuana, which is against the store’s policies. Staff said when they asked the man to leave, he became verbally assaultive and called employees names. Staff also said the man threatened bodily harm to employees. When officers contacted the man, he admitted to smoking marijuana about five days ago. He also said staff had been hostile toward him and threatened him. The officer informed the man he was not allowed to smoke marijuana and possess a concealed pistol license. The man then said he has a medical marijuana prescription.

Indecent exposure at Safeway: At about 9:32 a.m. near the 1200 block of South 320th Street, a woman called police to file a complaint of indecent exposure. The woman said as she was loading groceries into her car at the Safeway store, a man in the vehicle next to her exposed his genitals and began to masturbate while looking at her. She began to panic and immediately fled the area. The case is closed as the woman was unable to get a description of the man or the vehicle.

June 21

Ounces: at about 11:07 p.m. near the 30800 block of 44th Avenue Southwest, a victim and his boyfriend were at Dumas Bay Park and had left an ounce of marijuana in their car. Unknown suspects broke their vehicle’s window and stole the ounce of marijuana. The damage to the window is estimated at $200 and the marijuana is estimated to be upwards of $230. The crime occurred sometime between 5-6 p.m. Case is inactive pending new leads.

June 22

Vandalism on video, again: At about 7:46 a.m. near the 3600 block of South 344th Street, Federal Way Public Schools reported damage to their storage area at the former DeVry building now owned by FWPS. The security officer reported three males entered the storage area and vandalized the area around 1 a.m. on June 22. The school’s security officer said he will email surveillance of the incident. At this time, there is no suspect information or further investigative leads.

June 23

Expensive pooch: At about 5:09 p.m. near the 2200 block of South 284th Street, a woman called to report possible fraud. The woman told officers her mother had found a website called adorabledoodleshome.com and ordered a puppy to be delivered from that website. They paid $900 for the puppy and an additional $120 for shipping. During the course of the shipment, the company kept asking for more money for a variety of reasons. Ultimately, the victims spent approximately $13,429 but still had not yet received the puppy. The victim paid using CashApp and Bitcoin. The victim hired an attorney and the company told her they would give her a full refund. The case has been closed as no crime could be articulated at this time.

Inappropriate conduct on bus: At about 9:08 p.m. near the 31620 block of 23rd Avenue South, an adult male was arrested after he smoked a glass pipe and masturbated in front of a minor on a Sound Transit bus. The suspect admitted to the offenses and was booked into King County jail.
