Editor’s Note: The Mirror initially reported in the “man exposes genitals” incident on Jan. 21 that the suspect exposed his genitals to students on the school bus based on the information in the police call log. However, Federal Way police Cmdr. Kurt Schwan stated in a Jan. 24 email there was a “miscommunication between the parties involved” and there were “no children on the bus at the time of the incident.” The Mirror has updated the entry below accordingly.

Jan. 21
Shoplifter pushes woman: At 11:39 a.m. at 34520 16th Ave. S., the victim called 911 stating an unknown male pushed her to escape from being detained for shoplifting. The male dropped the stolen store merchandise valued at $43.92 and refused to be detained. He grabbed the victim’s shoulder and pushed her out of his way. He ran into the parking lot and drove off in a blue Nissan sedan with dark tinted windows. The victim, who was unable to get a license plate number, described the male as white, approximately 5 feet 8 inches, with a thin build, thick mustache and wearing a Seahawks baseball cap.
Robbery with a knife: At 11:50 a.m. at an unknown Federal Way address, the reporting party stated he was walking down the street when the suspect approached him, brandished a knife and robbed him.
Woman with warrant camping at park: At 3:22 p.m. at 31600 Pete von Reichbauer Way S., police contacted a woman who was camping out in the family restroom at Town Square Park. She refused to leave after employees asked her to so they requested police to trespass her. A check of her name showed a felony Department of Corrections warrant. She was booked into the Kent Regional Justice Center jail. SCORE refused to keep her there due to her heroin withdrawals.
Burglary: Sometime between Jan. 17-20 at 3300 SW 320th St., an unknown suspect entered six out of 10 units of a burnt-out apartment building by removing building materials, including miscellaneous wire, from inside the walls of the units.
Man exposes genitals: At 3 p.m. at 30200 16th Ave. S., a school bus driver called 911 to report a man was exposing his genitals as the bus passed by. A subject matching the description was located in the area who stated he was urinating as the bus passed by. The subject appeared to be suffering from a mental illness. The bus driver could not be located or identified following the incident to provide a statement or positive ID.
Drunk homeless man in drive-thru: At 4:05 p.m. at 1918 SW Campus Drive, the manager of Key Bank reported a man had passed out in the drive-thru. Police found the homeless man with an open half empty bottle of liquor in his hand. He was unable to tell police his last name and kept nodding off when the officer tried speaking with him. He was sitting out in the rain and unable to care for himself.
Jan. 20
Welfare check: At 7:08 p.m. in the 28600 block of 18th Ave. S., two witnesses found a 2-year-old running up and down the street, barefoot, in pajamas, without supervision. They stopped and stayed with the child for about 30 minutes until the father located them. The father explained they were visiting friends in a nearby apartment, someone left the door open and the child got out without their knowledge. The child was returned to the father. The case was forwarded to Child Protective Services.
Suspect throws hot coffee at employee: At 7 p.m. at 27515 Pacific Highway S., police were dispatched to McDonald’s for an assault report. A suspect had thrown hot coffee onto an employee and then left. The employee provided a written statement and signed a medical release. Police obtained video from the location.
Jan. 19
Theft at vape shop: At 7:12 p.m. at 33606 Pacific Highway S., police were dispatched to a report of a theft at the Global Smoke and Vape shop. An employee said a man entered the store and asked him to exchange five one dollar bills for one five dollar bill. The employee opened the cash register and the man grabbed all of the 20 dollar bills and then took off running. The employee described the suspect as a black male, between 24-28 years old, about 5 feet and 4 inches and 160 pounds. He was wearing light gray sweatpants and a dark jacket. Police obtained Safe City camera footage of the subject approaching the store from the north and then running away. Officers searched the area and were unable to locate the suspect.
Jan. 18
Burglary at SKFR facility: Sometime between Jan. 17-18, someone broke into the soon-to-be South King Fire and Rescue maintenance facility and stole supplies.
Jan. 17
Harassment at gunpoint: At 5:10 a.m. at 2400 SW 336th St., police responded to threats with a gun at Jack in the Box where a male pointed a gun at employees and left in a vehicle. A short time later the male was seen driving past the establishment and was booked on assault charges.
Suspect tries to steal bulldozer: At 11:10 a.m. at 34667 Pacific Highway S., an employee reported that he found an unknown male sitting in the cab of his company’s bulldozer. The male turned on the vehicle and attempted to drive it off the lot. When the employee confronted the suspect, the male fled on foot. The blacktop was damaged by the equipment attached to the bulldozer.
Jan. 16
Drunk driver strikes flag pole: At 2:29 a.m. at 1700 S. 320th St., police observed the suspect passed out in a vehicle on the wrong side of the road that struck a flag pole. The suspect was found to be driving under the influence and was booked into jail after a blood draw.
Weapons offense: At 11:40 a.m. at Thomas Jefferson High School in Auburn, a student was found to be in possession of a Taser on school grounds. The student was suspended and the case was forwarded to the King County juvenile prosecutor for charges.
Gang harasses student: At 11 a.m. at 30611 16th Ave. S., police responded to the main office at Federal Way High School to speak to a student about receiving a threatening phone call. The student reported that he was formerly involved in the “30th St” gang and he believes rival gang members called to threaten him. He received a call from an unknown number and a voice said, “I know where you live, you can’t hide anymore.” The student is fearful of some form of retaliation.
Jan. 13
Robbery: At 6:58 p.m. at 1819 S. Commons, a worker attempted to stop a shoplifter, when the suspect threatened to stab the worker with a syringe.
Weapons offense: At 7 p.m. at 160 SW Campus Drive, officers were dispatched to Winco for reports of somebody shooting a pistol in the parking lot. Police recovered 14 empty casings in the center lane at the south end of the parking lot. Police could not locate any direct witnesses or victims. They did not find any vehicles that were struck.
