The Rainier Highlanders Junior Rugby Club is hosting a skills camp for prospective new players this month.
The introductory skills camp is co-hosted by Rainier Highlanders coaches and players from the Seattle Saracens Rugby Club, the premier men’s and women’s club in the region. This partnership allows prospective players to have a great first experience with the sport and allows athletes to get excited about playing rugby.
This event is a no-cost, no-contact introduction to rugby skills, and is open to girls and boys from first through 12th grade.
Attending the camp will not obligate any commitment to play during the upcoming season. The club will have managers on hand to answer parent questions and provide club information as requested.
The Rainier Highlanders spring season for U14 and high school players begins Jan. 14. For U10 and U12 teams, the season begins Jan. 28.
Attendees of the skills camp should dress warmly and wear cleats if they have them. No pre-registration necessary — just show up and have fun.
The event is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Auburn Memorial Stadium, 801 4th St. NE in Auburn.
