Federal Way home where 85-year-old woman allegedly shot roommates destroyed by fire

South King Fire officials say the home was fully destroyed by flames, unknown number of victims at this time.

The Federal Way home where nearly two weeks ago an 85-year-old woman allegedly shot two of her roommates, killing one of them, was destroyed by flames this morning.

Neighbors reported the house fire shortly after 6 a.m. at the 2000 block of SW 306th Lane in Federal Way on Dec. 30. South King Fire crews arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames, said Lt. Brad Chaney, public information officer for SKFR.

Firefighters battled the massive flames but due to the amount of damage and debris, crews were unable to complete a thorough search of the entire home to check for victims, Chaney said. At this time, the number of victims or injuries is unknown.

On Dec. 19, police and fire crews responded to the same location for reports of a shooting. According to charging documents, 85-year-old Beverly Lorraine Jenne was charged with pre-meditated murder in the first degree for shooting and killing Janet Enid Akinyi Oyuga, and was also charged with domestic violence assault in the first degree for shooting Oyuga’s sister, Angela A. Atieno.

Jenne is being held on $1 million bail at the King County Jail in Seattle. Her arraignment is on Jan. 6 at the Kent Regional Justice Center, according to prosecutors.

“We are able to confirm it is the site of the same location,” Chaney said. “Although we have no reason to believe the two incidents are related, except for the location.”

King County fire investigators are on the scene of the residential fire and leading the investigation.
