Police continue to investigate who wrote shooting threats on two bathroom mirrors at Todd Beamer High School on Monday.
A 17-year-old student who police initially thought could be a suspect in the case was expelled immediately for one day, said Federal Way police Cmdr. Kurt Schwan. Police were set to file charges against the student with the King County Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday. However, they since discovered that at least two students use both of the bathrooms where the threats were found, Schwan told the Mirror on Thursday evening.
Therefore, police do not have a suspect and will continue to investigate the case.
On Monday, police took immediate precautions to ensure the safety of all students, staff and faculty on campus, including assigning additional personnel to the campus for the remainder of the school day and on Tuesday.
Editor’s Note: This story initially reported that the 17-year-old student faces charges, however, the Mirror has updated this report with the latest information from the Federal Way Police Department, who have not identifed a suspect.
