Federal Way police are warning the community of scam callers using the actual names of FWPD lieutenants.

The scammers are calling local residents and demanding gift cards in exchange to clear outstanding warrants to avoid arrests, the department noted on their Facebook page.

“The Federal Way police will never call and demand money or gift cards from citizens to avoid arrest or clear warrants,” they wrote.

If you do receive a suspicious call, police advise you to hang up immediately. To verify information or check on outstanding warrants, FWPD advises residents to call the main business line at 253-835-6700.
