The city of Federal Way is hosting a free to the public document shredding event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 21 at the large Wild Waves parking lot at 36892 Milton Road S.

According to a press release from the city, “residents can drop-off a variety of bulky or difficult-to-recycle items at no cost, including appliances, scrap metal, large branches, tires, mattresses, electronics, styrofoam, and confidential documents.”

Due to the popularity of events like this, two document shredding trucks will be available to ensure enough capacity to hold all of the items residents may want to drop off.

“Residents may bring the equivalent of up to two banker boxes or three paper sacks. No business or commercial shredding will be accepted,” the press release reads in part.

The only confidential documents accepted are items like bank statements and tax returns.

Other non-confidential documents like junk mail and magazines should be recycled elsewhere.
