Suzanne Marie (Roby) Jahns was born on January 16, 1947 to John and Francis Roby of Mt. Vernon, Washington. She spent her childhood in Burien/White Center before attending Whitworth College in Spokane where she married her first husband and had two children, Harold III and Alicia. She worked as a University Police dispatcher, a carpenter (one of the first female carpenters in the Kitsap County) and an Executive Assistant during her early adulthood before Suzanne went back to college to obtain dual Master’s Degrees in Business Administration and Adult Education. She found joy and fulfillment as a teacher for eight years at Kings High School before assuming the role of an instructor traveling across the US.
Karl Jahns and Suzanne married in 1997 and continued a life of adventure as bowling center owners as well as working in remodeling and building houses and condos. The last eleven years of her life, while battling cancer and lupus, were filled with unsurpassed joy in family, friends, volunteering, and traveling. She succumbed to cancer with her family at her bedside in the evening of July 8, 2019.
Suzanne is survived by a loving husband, a son, a daughter and son-in-law, six grandchildren, two brothers, a sister and six nieces and nephews.
