Trapper’s Sushi Co. opens new location in Federal Way

Federal Way is the restaurant’s ninth and newest location in Washington state.

Trapper’s Sushi Co. has arrived in Federal Way.

“We’ve been wanting to come to Federal Way for a long time, and the timing was right,” said Trapper O’Keeffe, CEO of Trapper’s Sushi Co. “We also put our corporate office in Federal Way because it was centrally located for our stores and future growth.”

The award-winning sushi restaurant will officially open at 11 a.m. Friday, June 14.

Federal Way is the franchise’s ninth and newest location, following locations in Kent Station, Bonney Lake, Covington and Puyallup, among others.

A tasty Asian-fusion menu of sushi options also has specialty rolls named after various restaurant locations, such as the Bonney Lake (crystal shrimp with cream cheese fried in tempura, covered with spicy crab and hot sauce) or the Puyallup (salmon, avocado and cream cheese fried in tempura topped with a special sauce and green onion).

If you’re hoping to get a taste of Federal Way, a signature roll may be in the works in the future.

“We are eventually looking to have a roll named after each of our locations,” said Jaysin Reyna, director of culinary operations.

The most popular rolls on the menu are the Bonney Lake, Trapper, Buddha and Mountain, according to the CEO.

With 20 full-time and 30 part-time employees on staff, Trapper’s in Federal Way is still hiring for positions throughout the restaurant.

Earlier this week, Trapper’s Sushi Co. held a social media contest that allowed a few winners to enjoy a meal at the restaurant before anyone else at a soft opening on June 12.

“We received an overwhelming amount of excitement on social media after we revealed that our ninth location was Federal Way,” said Melanie Koch, Trapper’s social media and marketing coordinator.

The community’s excitement matches that of the Trapper’s staff.

“We are super excited to be in Federal Way, and we look forward to being a destination of choice,” said Jason Strayer, regional manager.

Trapper’s Sushi Federal Way is at 31835 Pacific Highway S., Suite A, near Tokyo Japanese Steak House in Federal Way.
