Athlete of the Week:
Decatur High School’s Jeremiah Palaita, football, was selected as the Federal Way Mirror Male Athlete of the Week for Nov. 30.
Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?
A: Math.
Q: What other activities/hobbies do you participate in?
A: Listening to music, working out and spending times with friends and loved ones.
Q: Person who has helped you succeed the most?
A: God, without Him I wouldn’t be here, and my mom and dad for all they’ve done for me.
Q: Do you have a pregame/competition ritual or postgame tradition, and what is it?
A: Yes, prayer before and after.
Q: Song you currently can’t get enough of?
A: “Yearning for Your Love” by The Gap Band and “After the Pain” by Betty Wright.
From the sideline: Jeremiah Palaita, a senior at Decatur, was recently selected by the North Puget Sound League football coaches as the All Purpose Player of the Year. The title accurately describes Jeremiah’s impact on offense, defense and special teams for the 2018 Decatur Gators football team. Jeremiah was also selected to represent the NPSL in the All-State football game to be played in June 2019. Off the field, Jeremiah is an exemplary scholar-athlete. He has played a significant role in the school’s student leadership group, planning and implementing activities that create an inclusive climate on campus. He has earned a 3.417 cumulative GPA in a challenging college prep schedule including three advanced place courses this semester.
