Des Moines police are investigating a shooting incident involving an 18-year-old woman who was shot in the chest on Saturday.

Around 6:30 p.m. near Redondo Beach

Des Moines police responded to a call of a possible drive-by shooting around 6:30 p.m. near Redondo Beach, according to Des Moines police Srgt. David Mohr. Police later determined it was actually a dispute that occurred inside a vehicle at the boat launch at Redondo Beach Drive.

An apparent dispute occurred inside the vehicle where the victim, her boyfriend and another couple were. During the dispute a gun was produced and went off once, hitting the victim in her chest, Mohr said.

He did not say who was holding the gun when it fired.
