Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:
Stolen motorcycle: At 8:48 a.m. June 11, a man reported his motorcycle stolen from his open garage in the 30200 block of 24th Avenue sometime sometime between June 8 and June 9 while he was doing yard work in his backyard.
Assault: At 9:00 a.m. June 11, an employee at Safeway, 2302 320th St., reported an assault on a man by an unknown couple. The victim was uncooperative with the investigation and only wanted medical attention. Case closed.
Double trouble: At 11:08 a.m. June 11, a report was made regarding two broken windows at Sherwin Williams, 32818 Pacific Highway S. The windows were apparently broken on two separate occasions between June 8 and June 9. The total estimated damage is $5,000. The case is inactive pending suspect identification.
Choked up: At 5:35 p.m. June 11, police arrested a woman in the 2300 block of Southwest 331st Street, after her grandchildren’s father claimed she choked him.
Wheelchair hit: At 12:36 p.m. June 10, a man in a wheelchair was struck by a small maroon-colored sedan on South 320th Street and Peter Von Reichbauer Way South. The victim was legally crossing southbound when he was hit, sustaining minor injuries to his lower left leg. No suspect or vehicle information was recorded. The victim received on-scene medical attention and was later transported to his adult care home.
Wild ride: At 7:19 p.m. June 9, a vehicle was traveling south near Pacific Highway South when when it crossed over the center meridian and crashed on the side of the road taking down some trees and road signs. A witness saw the driver exit the vehicle and run west. Federal Way police officers were in the area at that time and apprehended the suspect a few blocks away and took him into custody. The suspect was arrested on charges of DUI, hit and run and obstruction of a peace officer.
Counterfeit bills: An employee called police to report a fraudulent $100 bill that was used during a transaction at an ARCO ampm Convenience Store on June 7. FWPD officers responded and spoke with the female who passed the fraudulent bill. The female said she recently sold some items to another female named “Stephanie” and she received the bill from her. The female said she waited on scene for officers to arrive because she did not know it was fake. The female paid the employee for the merchandise she was originally attempting to purchase. The store did not suffer a loss.
Construction theft: An unknown suspect broke into a new construction home in the 600th block of Southwest 312th Street, on June 7. The suspect cut and stole copper wiring and pipe. There is no suspect information.
Juvenile shoplifters: Officers responded to Walmart, 1900 S. 314th St., on June 7 for the report of two female juveniles who were in custody for shoplifting. One female juvenile was listed as a runaway out of Tacoma. Once confirmed she was transported to the Federal Way Police Department and released to her cousin per her mom’s request. Walmart will handle the shoplifting internally.
Eat and run: A diner fled Applebee’s Neighborhood Bar & Grill, 1801 S. 320th St., on June 7 after failing to pay for their meal valued at $69.99. The server followed the suspect into the parking lot. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle and struck the victim as they were fleeing. The victim stated she was not injured. She remained standing, and declined medical aid.
