Susan Walker, the director of Fire & Ice Irish Dance Company, is teaching a free 9-week Irish dance class from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays from March 26 to May 21st in the Northwest Church Gym, 34800 21st Ave. SW, Federal Way.
The class is open to children, teens and adults of all ages. Children 4 to 6 years old may participate but must be accompanied by an adult who is also taking the class. Boys and men are encouraged to participate. Attendance at each class is encouraged but not required. Dancers should wear athletic shoes, active wear and bring a water bottle. Participants will learn to take basic motor skills like galloping, skipping and hopping and turn them into dance. At the end of the session, dancers and families are invited to a free performance of Fire & Ice Irish Dance Company at 7 p.m. Friday, May 25 in the Northwest Church auditorium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and no tickets are required.
Fire & Ice Irish Dance Company is in its 17th year of performing Irish ensemble choreography and traditional Irish step dancing at elementary schools and festivals throughout the Puget Sound.
