In a letter in the Jan. 20 issue of the Mirror, Karen Capp urged voters to approve the Federal Way schools levy. She noted that in 2019, this levy would “decrease our tax rate from $3.58 per $1,000 assessed value to $1.50 per $1,000. Yes, this is a decrease in our taxes.” Capp’s statement obscures the truth that taxes would decrease even more if voters rejected the levy. We need to encourage the Federal Way schools to be fiscally responsible. Voting to give them more money every time there is an election only encourages them to be wasteful with taxpayer funds. Please rein in the schools’ spending by voting to reject this levy.
