An armed suspect died Monday in an officer-involved shooting in Federal Way.

The shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at South 316th Street and Pacific Highway South outside the Elephant Car Wash. Federal Way police responded to a 911 call who reported seeing a man pointing a gun at two men.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office on Thursday afternoon identified the suspect as 33-year-old Robert James Lightfeather.

When officers arrived, Lightfeather pointed the weapon at them, and both officers fired at the same time, according to Federal Way police.

Lightfeather was pronounced dead at the scene. He died of multiple gunshot wounds, according the medical examiner’s office.

The officers have been placed on paid administrative leave, and an investigation is being conducted by the Valley Investigation Team.
