The following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:
Threatened by a thief: At 7 a.m. Oct. 23 in the 31800 block of 23rd Avenue South, a man broke into a vehicle that was parked at a medical facility. After taking unspecified items, he “keyed” the vehicle and walked away. The owner and other employees confronted the suspect to return the items. The suspect turned around, wielded a knife, and threatened to stab everyone in the eyes if they followed him. Police captured the suspect and booked him into SCORE Jail.
Student hits administrator: At 10:40 a.m. Oct. 23 at Thomas Jefferson High School, 4248 S. 288th St., two female students got into a fight during the first lunch period. While being separated by two administrators, one of the female students punched an administrator in the face. The administrator declined to pursue any charges and did not require medical attention from the assault.
Finding hubby: At 12:59 p.m. Oct. 23 in the 30000 block of Fourth Avenue South, a woman called police because her husband didn’t come home the night before. As it turns out, the husband was involuntarily committed for being intoxicated. Police located the hospital and advised the woman, who said she was satisfied with their service.
Mystery shooter: At 9:22 p.m. Oct. 23 in the 400 block of South 316th Place, a man heard a loud noise and thought an object had fallen from a tree onto his house. He found a bullet hole in the wall near his front door, then realized a bullet had struck his house. He found several more holes inside the residence showing the track of the bullet. Police found the bullet slug in a kitchen cupboard. Police searched the neighborhood and are seeking clues to the identity of the shooter or a motive.
Car fire: At 1 a.m. Oct. 22 in the 35400 block of Eighth Avenue Southwest, a witness called police to report a vehicle on fire across the street from their home. South King Fire and Rescue extinguished the fire and determined that an issue with the vehicle had caused the fire. The owner said he saw smoke coming from the engine before smoldering material dropped from the engine and caught fire. The owner denied knowing anyone who would have started the fire. No crime reported.
Full metal jacket: At 11:22 a.m. Oct. 22 in the 32400 block of Pacific Highway South, local business owners reported finding shell casings in an alley. An officer found six unfired full metal jacket ammunition rounds (32 auto) scattered in the alley behind the business. A local crew that was working on a billboard said they found more rounds but had disposed of them in the bushes. The business owner said they did not see anyone suspicious around the property.
Her car was at Denny’s: At 1:08 a.m. Oct. 21 in the 2100 block of South 320th Street, hospital staff reported that a woman had threatened them and had thrown medical equipment when she was released. The woman told the officer that her car was at Denny’s, and the officer gave her a courtesy ride. During the ride, she wrapped the seatbelt around her neck. The officer told her stop, and she said she has “died before and she can again.” After screaming about killing a dog, she started hyperventilating while sticking out her tongue and grunting. “She then looked at me with her teeth closed and mouth open and made a throat-cutting gesture. She then said ‘it’s time to die,’ ” according to the officer’s report. She made choking sounds the officer described as “odd and frightening.” At one point, she wrapped the seatbelt around her throat, then began jolting her body forward, hitting her head on the window in an attempt to snap her own neck.
Firearm assault: At 2:35 a.m. Oct. 21 in the 2700 block of Southwest 328th Street, a man pointed a gun at several people and threatened to kill them. He then assaulted and injured a woman with his firearm. He resisted arrest and fled from the scene. Police are working on the case.
Unknown vandals: At 7:40 a.m. Oct. 21 in the 33500 block of 21st Avenue Southwest, a manager of Grease Monkey reported that a window pane had been broken out. Nothing was missing from inside the business. The manager said the property has been frequently vandalized and damaged. No suspects have been identified at this time.
Tent fire: At 9:09 p.m. Oct. 21 in the 29200 block of Pacific Highway South, police and firefighters responded to a report of a tree on fire during a rainy night. Upon arrival, bright flames could be seen coming from a wooded area. A homeless individual’s tent that was located down in the trail was on fire. No one was found in or around the campsite. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
Involuntarily committed: At 9:53 p.m. Oct. 21 at 34800 Enchanted Parkway South, police responded to a woman who was wandering in the street while wearing black clothing and slapping a jacket on the ground. She was yelling and began speaking in a different language. She told the officer that she is the president of the United States. The officer asked her name, and she said Donald Trump. Her clothes were soaking wet and she kept asking for different random people. The officer determined she was either having drug or mental health issues. The woman also stated that she is with the U.S. Air Force and Border Patrol. She was involuntarily committed.
Homeless camp: At 11:28 a.m. Oct. 20 in the 600 block of South 356th Street, staff at Brooklake Church reported smoke coming from the woods on church property. The smoke was coming from a homeless camp. One man was on location and was banned from the property. Police promised to conduct follow-up checks of the property.
Cop crash: At 5 p.m. Oct. 20 at 30800 Pacific Highway South, a Federal Way Police Department vehicle was involved in a traffic collision. Minor injuries were reported, and both vehicles were towed from the scene. The officer was taken to the hospital for evaluation. The preliminary investigation suggests that the other party turned in front of the officer, causing the collision. This case is still under review by the Federal Way Police Traffic Unit and a final determination of fault has not officially been made.
He pointed a gun at her: At 10:29 p.m. Oct. 19 in the 2800 block of Southwest 340th Place, a woman reported that she had been sitting inside the suspect’s vehicle when an argument ensued, and he burned her cheek with a lighter. The suspect then told his friend to hand him his “heat” because he was going to “smoke this bitch.” The suspect pointed a black semi-automatic handgun at the victim. She fled on foot and feared being killed. The case is under investigation.
