Dick’s Drive In Restaurant will open new location near Highline College in 2018

Famous regional burger chain Dick’s Drive In Restaurant has announced its seventh location will open next year near Highline College.

A live press conference Thursday morning on Facebook revealed the restaurant is scheduled to open in the fall 2018 on Pacific Highway and South 242nd Street in Kent, just south of Kent-Des Moines Road.

All the cities in South King County were in the running including Des Moines, Renton, Auburn and Federal Way, according to the announcement. The owners are still seeking building permits from Kent and hope to break ground later this year or early 2018. Employees are eligible for health benefits and college scholarships.

Dick’s is a family-owned fast-food operation known for its simple menu with burgers, fries and shakes. The original restaurant opened 63 years ago in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood. Other locations are in Seattle’s Capitol Hill, Crown Hill, Lake City and Queen Anne along with Edmonds.
