From staff reports:
Communities In Schools of Federal Way was awarded a $10,000 technology upgrade grant from Weyerhaeuser.
“This grant will enable us to work more efficiently, so we can spend more time providing needed services to the students,” said Tracy Oster, executive director, CIS Federal Way.
CIS was also the recipient of a $3,500 grant in recognition of the contributions employee volunteer mentors and board member Steve Kobelak, who also mentors a middle school student one-on-one.
“He is a wonderful asset, and his passion for the students of Federal Way, and commitment to our community is incredible,” said Oster.
Weyerhaeuser created its team-based Making WAVES and individual iWAVE programs to foster volunteerism and support employees’ good works in the community. These programs provide a framework in which employees, working with community nonprofit and civic organizations, pledge their time, energy and skills to volunteer projects.
