The Historical Society of Federal Way kicks off cabin season Saturday with an opening day celebration, the “Arts Come to West Hylebos Wetlands Park.”
The cabins will be open to the public the second Saturday of every month through October.
The June 10 program is “The Blue and Gray Come to Federal Way” and features Civil War re-enactors.
Everyone is invited to the event, which will take place from noon to 4 p.m. at the park, 411 S. 348th St., Federal Way, to join the festivities and check out Federal Way’s historic Denny and Barker cabins, both of which were built more than 100 years ago by some of Federal Way’s first settlers, according to a press release.
The Arts Come to West Hylebos Wetlands Park will feature a variety of family-friendly entertainment.
Kevin Saville and Andy House-Higgens will perform and present “Music of the 1800s” in period attire, and the creative crafts of the Crazy Quilters of Federal Way will also be on hand.
Additionally, the event will feature a visit from Tal Renfro, celebrated artist, author and Federal Way product, whose work can be seen livening up Federal Way’s power boxes.
