Best Starts for Kids is hosting a community meeting at 6:30 p.m. May 18 at the Federal Way Community Center, 876 S. 333rd St. Best Starts for Kids is King County’s comprehensive approach to child development. It builds on the strengths of communities so that more babies are born healthy, more children thrive and more young people grow into happy, healthy members of their communities. The initiative is investing approximately $65 million annually back into communities. Through Best Starts for Kids funding, King County is currently supporting the Multi-Service Center, a nonprofit in Federal Way, in their work with youth and young adults who have been caught up or are at risk of being involved in the juvenile justice system in South King County.
The program has numerous funding opportunities now through the end of the year, which will be discussed at the upcoming meeting. It is also an opportunity for organizations and residents to learn more about the initiative. All are welcome at the events and encouraged to bring questions, ideas and the desire to create change for families and communities.
