The following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

Truck goes missing: At 7:20 a.m. on March 8 in the 1000 block of Southwest Campus Drive, a man told police an unknown person took his black 2012 Ford F-150 without permission. The victim stated he left the vehicle running unattended in the parking lot. It appeared the unknown suspect struck one of the carport’s pole when fleeing the scene. The victim stated he left the vehicle unattended for approximately 10 minutes.

Dishing out a little fraud: At 12:15 p.m. on March 8 in the 1700 block of South 334th Lane, officers were dispatched to a victim who stated that she had recently discovered fraudulent charges to her credit report. A Dish Network account and a medical charge was made in her name. The victim states she did not authorize the payments. The total loss is $979.

Suspect just can’t stay away: At 5:26 p.m. on March 7 in the 28000 block of Pacific Highway South, police became aware of a problem when a suspect, who was already in jail, was making calls to a victim from jail. A served, valid order was located and confirmed, and SCORE Jail was made aware of the violations.

The case of the mysterious bicycle: At 7:15 p.m. on March 7 in the 200 block of Southwest 325th Place, officers collected a bicycle that had been laying at a trail for the past few weeks. The listed serial number on the bike was checked but yielded no results. The bike was booked into evidence as found property.

The guy just wanted a sandwich … or two: At 9:13 a.m. a.m. on March 6 in the 2000 block of South 320th Street, officers responded to the Subway location when an employee reported a suspect was stealing sandwiches. When police arrived, the female was distraught and said she did not steal anything. When the male suspect saw police, he ran and hid in the bathroom for an unreasonable amount of time. He eventually surrendered and was arrested on outside agency warrants. A search revealed the man had several uncapped needles on his person. He was transported to SCORE Jail, where he was booked without incident despite a possible infection on his feet.

Man is tired of his energy service: At 12:15 p.m. on March 6 in the 2800 block of South 284th Place, police responded after a Puget Sound Energy employee received an email from a customer. In the email, the customer stated that if any Puget Sound Energy employee comes on his property to read his meter again, he would “get his 12-gauge shotgun and hold them at gun point until police arrive.” The employee requested the incident be documented. Employees were advised to contact police if there was anymore trouble.

Victim has tires slashed: At 1:35 p.m. on March 6 in the 2400 block of South 354th Street, a woman told officers sometime on the night of Feb. 23 or early morning on Feb. 24, the tires of her vehicle had been slashed. There is no suspect information, but the victim believed her ex-boyfriend could possibly be involved because they had a scheduled court date on Feb. 24.

This is why you lock your car: At 11:17 a.m. on March 5 in the 1600 block of South 325th Street, a victim called police reporting a theft from her vehicle. She parked the car and left her laptop exposed on the passenger seat. The victim admitted she did not lock her car and when she returned her laptop was gone. Video surveillance footage from the business showed an unidentified suspect walk up to the car, open the passenger door, grab the laptop and walk north.

When revenge gets serious: At 12:34 p.m. on March 5 in the 33000 block of 41st Way South, a victim called 911 to report that an unknown suspect put what appeared to be man-made spike strips underneath his listed vehicle’s tires. The victim’s vehicle was parked on the city street in front of his residence that day, and when he went to move his car a half hour earlier, he heard all four of his tires deflate. The victim said the CCTV quality is too poor to identify anyone.

There’s enough gas to go around: At 9:12 p.m. on March 5 in the 1600 block of Southwest 312th Street, a man informed officers he engaged in a verbal confrontation with several juveniles at the gas station because their cars were blocking several parking stalls, not allowing the man to get gas. The man told police the juveniles then followed him but no further contact between them resulted.

Neighbor’s mail goes public: At 2:30 p.m. on March 4 in the 33000 block of 38th Place Southwest, a victim contacted police after finding out some children found her and her neighbor’s mail spread throughout a nearby park. The victim reported there was no damage to the community mailbox and is unsure how anyone gained access. She stated the theft occurred sometime overnight and was unable to provide any suspect information. She stated she collected the mail at the park and returned it to her neighbors.

Maybe there are some good people out there: At 3:28 p.m. on March 4 in the 2100 block of Southwest 356th Street, a good Samaritan found a wallet on the street near the Valero gas station. The wallet was taken to the Federal Way Police Department and turned in to police. Officers checked the wallet and it had several items including a state-issued driver’s license in a male’s name. It also had two credit cards in other names. Police went to the male’s address, and he said he had recently lost his wallet. When it was returned, the man did not know anything about the two credit cards and did not know the people’s names. Officers were unable to find the owners of two cards, and they were booked into lost and found.

Not looking for swim gear: At 8:46 p.m. on March 4 in the 600 block of Southwest Campus Drive, after a victim parked their car in the Aquatic Center parking lot for the day, they returned to discover an unknown suspect broke out the back driver’s side window and stole a backpack, which contained several valuable items.

It’s a little early for Christmas: At 1:05 p.m. on March 3 in the 30000 block of 26th Avenue Southwest, police were called after a woman noticed damage to a tree in her yard. An unknown suspect attempted to cut the pine tree by using a manual saw and a metal stick used with power drill. Both tools were left stuck in the tree. The saw was recovered, but the metal stick could not be removed. The victim checked with City Hall and discovered no city employees were working in the area at that time.

Doing a little shopping: At 7:56 p.m. on March 3 in the 32000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers were called to trespass a male and female who were in a local business concealing items. The two were contacted by police and both were found to have active warrants out of King County. Both suspects were taken into custody and turned over to SCORE Jail staff without incident.

A car is not a punching bag: At 9:22 p.m. on March 3 in the 2000 block of South 327th Lane, a man called to report that when he pulled into his apartment building, a male came to his vehicle and threatened him. The suspect hit the victim’s mirror and kicked his grill of the vehicle. The whereabouts of the suspect were unknown.

That’s the wrong kind of car wax: At 3:35 p.m. on March 2 in the 33000 block of 24th Avenue Southwest, a man called to report someone had smeared dog feces on the hood of his vehicle and broke a small vacuum cleaner in his driveway. He stated he has issues with the next-door neighbor but did not see anyone around.

Not the service expected: At 5:23 p.m. on March 2 at the Federal Way Wal-Mart, a woman contacted police to report she took her vehicle to get new tires at the tire center, and when she got her vehicle back, her clutch peddle was broken. She was provided Wal-Mart’s insurance company. Adhesive was put on the clutch peddle to attempt and secure it to drive.

Just wanted some pizza: At 8:35 p.m. on March 2 in the 1400 block of South 348th Street, a man called to report the theft of a generator from the bed of his pickup truck, which was in the parking lot of the Multicare clinic. The victim said he parked his truck and then went to eat at The Rock Wood Fired Pizza. Victim returned to his truck and saw his generator was stolen.
