Isaiah Marquice Kelly of Federal Way was charged Monday in Lewis County Superior Court on one count of residential burglary.
According to the police report, officers responded at 4:18 p.m. Saturday to a report, from a neighbor, of an in-progress burglary to an occupied residence in the 900 block of West Pear Street in Centralia.
The alleged victim told police she heard someone knock, pound on the front door, then kick the door open. The report said the victim went and hid in a bedroom. The victim said she heard the suspects going through things in the home before kicking down her bedroom door.
The woman was only able to describe one of the suspects. When police arrived, they observed two suspects leaving the scene. The police report said the officer drove toward the suspects, who began to run away, ignoring orders to stop. The officer chased the suspects on foot, then briefly lost track of them.
Officers continued to pursue the suspects and eventually found and arrested Kelly.
The three male residents were at a basketball game the night of the burglary, and the female roommate was home alone. The male residents told police they were teammates with Kelly on the Centralia College basketball team.
