The following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

Student expelled for assaulting officer: At 10:24 a.m. on Nov. 21 in the 35999 block of 16th Avenue South, a Todd Beamer High School student was expelled after pushing a school resource officer twice. The 18-year-old male student was trying to fight a 17-year-old male student as the officer tried to separate the two. Nearby staff members helped the officer detain the suspect and escort him to the main office where he was emergency expelled. The officer declined to prosecute the suspect since he was not injured and believed the suspect “only wanted to get past the victim to fight the other student.”

Girl warned for ‘sexting’: At 12:36 p.m. on Nov. 21 in the 3500 block of 16th Avenue South, a reporting party told police of a possible sex offense. A minor female student admitted to taking nude photos of herself and texting them to her minor ex-boyfriend while she was visiting a relative last June. The girl complained her ex-boyfriend still had the photos and was showing them to other classmates at school. After contacting the girl’s ex-boyfriend, he admitted deleting the photos and never sent them or showed them to anyone. The two were warned for sexual exploitation of a minor and their parents were notified.

Public Storage units burglarized again: At 12:24 p.m. on Nov. 21 at 34701 Pacific Highway S., six storage lockers were broken into at the public storage facility. Police noted there are “still” no cameras in the buildings despite “dozens and dozens” of burglaries at the business. Management replaced the broken locks before police arrived and were in the process of contacting victims.

Children taken away from suicidal mother: At 3:33 p.m. on Nov. 21 in the 3400 block of Ninth Avenue South, a woman was involuntarily committed after she told Child Protective Services she would kill herself if her child was taken away. She repeated this in various forms at least twice and when asked if she would hurt herself, several minutes later, she just shrugged. The child was taken into protective custody because of abuse allegations against the father and the woman’s inability to keep him away.

$1,000 taken at gunpoint: At 8:44 p.m. on Nov. 21 at 1900 S. 314th St., a victim was walking to his vehicle in the Wal-Mart parking lot when he was attacked from behind. He was struck multiple times with a fist and then noticed the suspect pushed something into the victim’s back, which he believed was a gun. The victim didn’t see the suspect, but heard a man’s voice. The suspect stole $1,000, the victim’s wallet and groceries before fleeing the scene.

Angry Burger King customer causes scene: At 8:33 a.m. on Nov. 22 at 34819 Pacific Highway S., a Burger King manager called police on a disorderly man in his mid-40s. The manager said the man became upset when he was told he wasn’t allowed in the restaurant because of an earlier incident. The man said he didn’t remember the incident and pushed the cash register to the floor causing the electric cord to snap. The man was gone before police arrived. He could not immediately be identified.

Fence, house shot: At 11:36 a.m. on Nov. 22 a woman reported seeing a bullet hole on her cedar fence to the north of her house. She found a hole on the side of her house, however, the bullet did not go through. Officers noted the hole size was possibly a .22 caliber.

Chevron cashier robbed at gunpoint: At 7:26 a.m. on Nov. 24 at 1650 SW Dash Point Road, a Chevron store owner was robbed at gunpoint by two males. The suspects, who were masked, displayed handguns as they took the cash register’s till. They then fled in a 1980s Honda Civic. The store owner took down the license plate and officers contacted the registered owner, who was “shocked” to learn her car was connected to a crime spree. She told officers she had parked her car the night before between two trucks in a parking lot. The woman signed a stolen vehicle report and consented to her vehicle being searched if found. Several police units searched the area for the vehicle and obtained video surveillance as well. The case is under investigation.

Shell gas station robbed: At 6:05 p.m. on Nov. 24 at 1520 S. 348th St., an unknown suspect robbed a Shell gas station cash register. During the theft, the suspect verbally threatened the cashier.

Suicidal man tries to provoke police: At 6:15 p.m. on Nov. 24 in the 3500 block of Southwest 342nd Street, a male called a crisis line to state he was suicidal. The crisis line operator called 911, but the male got angry and hung up the phone. Officers arrived and the male pulled throwing knives out of his pocket. He then “muffled” something before pulling a “huge” hunting knife out. The male refused to obey officers’ commands as they pointed a gun toward him. One officer said he moved to avoid shooting a bystander behind him and prepared to fire. But as he prepared to shoot the male, the male dropped the knife and he was arrested. The officer noted in the report the male was suicidal and wanted to use police to end his life.

Father strangles daughter: At 11:21 p.m. on Nov. 24 in the 28900 block of 28th Place South, a 14-year-old girl was taken to St. Francis Hospital after her father was arrested for assaulting and strangling her.

Mother reports missing daughter: At 12:44 p.m. on Nov. 25 in the 100 block of South 331st Place, a woman reported her adult daughter missing. She told police she hasn’t seen her in seven months and last spoke to her by phone about five months ago over the phone. She also said she believes her daughter is bipolar, uses heroin and is involved in prostitution. The woman told police that her daughter doesn’t usually go so long without speaking to her children and no other family members have spoken to her.

Middle school vandalized: At 4:25 a.m. on Nov. 26 at 1101 South Dash Point Road, a school security officer at Sacajawea Middle School said that during his routine search of the campus, he found someone had spread toilet paper around the school as well as mustard and syrup on the windows. Two concrete pillars also had curse words sprayed on them with a substance resembling paint. The officer found video surveillance of the incident, which showed an unknown white male wearing dark clothing as the perpetrator. The officer burned the video to a disc for the case.

Unlucky man robbed, shot: At 3:43 p.m. on Nov. 26 in the 2400 block of South Star Lake Road, a man was shot in the right leg. An unknown male suspect robbed the victim, who then chased the suspect to a car where he was approached by a second male suspect. That suspect shot the victim and fled the scene with the thief.

Drug user steals drugs to sell, pay for more drugs: At 11:20 p.m. on Nov. 27 in the 35600 block of Pacific Highway South, a woman reported her husband stole her prescription drugs to sell so he could buy illegal drugs. Police know the couple as “prolific drug users” and each has extensive criminal drug records. The woman told police she was sleeping but woke up as her husband took her prescription drugs. There was no fight or altercation.
