Charlotte R. Carney died April 13 at Tacoma Lutheran Home. She was 90.

She was born Dec. 30, 1913 in Sisseton, S.D., grew up in Veblen, S.D., and attended beauty school in Fargo, N.D. She and her husband, James, moved to Federal Way to be close to their children.

Survivors are daughters Elizabeth Smith of Federal Way and Ginger Grant of Kent; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993; a son, James; brothers Irwin and Gordon Axness; and sisters Dorothy Jacobson and Margaret Straub.

Services were April 18 at Tacoma Lutheran Home Chapel. Memorials may be sent to Tacoma Lutheran Home, 1301 N. Highlands Parkway, Tacoma, WA 98406.
