Maynard Stanley Campbell

Maynard Stanley Campbell was born on November 10, 1919 on a farm in Loup City, NE to Nile & Bessie Campbell. He moved with his family to Lincoln, lived in Malcolm with the Schulze family between the ages of 10 & 13, moved back to Lincoln and eventually joined the Army to proudly serve in WWII. After returning home, Maynard met his beloved Norma and they married on June 4, 1950. He graduated in 1953 from the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry and they moved to Kennewick, WA with their baby daughter. There they set up their home and a dental practice. A son and 2 more daughters completed the family. They established their faith home at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and School and Maynard served on many boards and committees, choir and elders. In 1993, Maynard and Norma moved to Federal Way, WA to be closer to all their children and grandchildren. After joining St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, he became involved with numerous activities there such as Operation Blessing, Braille Bibles and Lutheran Church Extension Fund representative. Maynard and Norma were blessed to be together until her death on October 31, 2009. During his life, Maynard was heavily involved in community activities such as Young Life, Benton Franklin County Dental Society, Benton Franklin Historical Society, Kiwanis, Hunger Walks and the Chamber of Commerce as well as organizations such as the Washington State Dental Association, Washington Dental Society, Washington State Dental Disciplinary Board, University of Nebraska College of Dentistry and Federal Way Celebration Park among many others. “Doc” knew everyone and everyone knew him. He was gifted with endless energy. He took care of people. Although Maynard was recognized for his achievements at different levels, it was the work of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ that was most important to him. He was always finding ways to preach and share the good news of salvation. He did it through his involvement with people. He knew everything he had belonged to God so he shared it with others. Maynard was called to heaven by his Lord on March 15, 2013. He is survived by his children Debra Fuller (Jeremy), Cynthia Dalgleish (Craig), Michael Campbell (Char) and Sharon Lewis; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a large extended family. Committal will be April 26, 2013 at Tahoma National Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life service at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Any remembrances may be given in Maynard’s honor to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church (515 S. 312th St., Federal Way, WA 98003) for Operation Blessing or The Foundation OR the Lutheran Church Extension Fund/NW District (1700 NE Knott St., Portland, OR 97212).
