Lucille Mahoney, 84, a former Federal Way resident, died July 29 in Longview.
She was born on Sept 18, 1919 in Seattle to William H. “Harry” Hicks and Mabel Ellen Stott.
She lived in Federal Way and Des Moines following her retirement until 2000. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Seattle and the University of Washington. She worked for the Army Corps of Engineers at Fort Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska during World War II.
She met and married Francis Mahoney while stationed in Alaska. They settled in Seattle.
She worked for 25 years for the Seattle school district as a secretary and later in the Student Placement Center.
Survivors include two of her children, Mary Mahoney of Nevada City, Calif. and Bill Mahoney of Longview, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death in 2002 by her third child, Neil Mahoney of Edmonds, and in 1985 by her husband.
