Evelyn passed from the mortal world on October 16, 2013 in Federal Way, Washington at age 86, due to complications of Parkinson’s disease which plagued her during the last decade of her life.

She was born in Fresno, California on June 23, 1927. Her parents, Christ and Marie Papulias, were Greek immigrants who settled in the Fresno area in the early 1900’s and Evelyn was the youngest of their four children. She was raised and educated in Fresno and remained there until her marriage to Thomas John Buttram in1952. Many of her relatives and life-long friends continue to reside in the Fresno area.

Evelyn’s early years of marriage and motherhood included residences in Washington, California, Alabama and Louisiana. By 1970, she returned to Federal Way, Washington. She was an involved and loving mother and continued to take interest in her kids’ activities into their adult lives. After her husband’s retirement in the 80’s, she enjoyed traveling with him frequently to maintain the longstanding bonds of friendship and family. Becoming a grandmother in the mid-90’s brought her great joy and she shared her gifts of love and caring in that role. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Alex (“Pappy”) and Ted. Her sister, Constance, still resides in Fresno. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Tom; daughter, Karen, of Seattle; son, Tommy, of Enumclaw and granddaughter, Camille.

   

Evelyn led an exemplary life of devotion to the wellbeing of her family and friends and will be sorely missed by all.
