Federal Way officials should check the Seahawks’ game schedule | Q&A with Mr. Federal Way

Q: Mr. Federal Way, the school district had an all-employee rally at the Christian Faith Center on Tuesday.

Q: Mr. Federal Way, the school district had an all-employee rally at the Christian Faith Center on Tuesday. Too bad our high schools are apparently not good enough for the school district to use any of them for this rally and would rather give our educational dollars to a religious organization to rent a facility. Ridiculous! What are your thoughts on this?

A: Mr. Federal Way thinks Christian Faith Center was chosen for exactly the reason the district gave: it’s the only facility large enough to hold the number of people who attended.

Mr. Federal Way notes that the district employs 2,688 people, with 1,246 of those employees being teachers.

When Mr. Federal Way thinks of the four high schools in Federal Way, Mr. Federal Way cannot envision a space in any of those schools large enough to hold nearly 3,000 people.

As far as the money goes, Mr. Federal Way is unaware if any money was actually paid out by the district to Christian Faith Center for use of the facility, and even if it was, Mr. Federal Way, at least, has no problems with that.

Q: Mr. Federal Way, I would like to know your thoughts on Weyerhaeuser Corp. moving out of Federal Way. I live not far from the corporate location and we love the open space there for walking our dog and the open fields. I really hope that we don’t end up seeing houses built there. I would like to see some of the trails and open space left alone.

A: Ahh, the company so many Federal Wayans identified as theirs is abandoning ship — tis a little thing called life, Mr. Federal Way thinks.

While Mr. Federal Way cannot predict what will go there in the far future, it likely won’t be housing because there’s a little thing the city needs to abide by called “zoning code.”

The Weyerhaeuser property is currently zoned CP 1 (Corporate Park), an office zone, meaning houses cannot go there.

However, citizens, developers and your mom have the ability to request a change in zoning, so long as they go through the correct process set forth by the city.

Several public officials have voiced their desire for a college at the site, which would probably allow you to keep walking your dog around the area if there’s some sort of track.

But, if not, Mr. Federal Way suggests you take a look around your city because there’s 19 neighborhood parks in the city of Federal Way to choose from.

Q: Mr. Federal Way, I’m so torn between going to the city’s public meeting to meet the city attorney candidates and watching the kickoff for the first Seahawks game of the season — NOT. But still, why would the city hold this meeting during something you know every true Washingtonian will be watching?

A: You know how the Mirror has this new “Letter of the Week” business? Well, Mr. Federal Way thinks you deserve the “Question of the Week” award.

Mr. Federal Way is dumbfounded that the city thought of hosting a public meeting for the city attorney candidates on Thursday.

When you put the Seahawks up against a city meeting, it’s a no-brainer.

Nevertheless, Mr. Federal Way does have to commend city officials for hosting a public meeting in this case.

It’s great that they recognize the value in connecting taxpayers, or community members, to those who they’ll be paying, or depending on, to keep this city as great as it is.

Mr. Federal Way just feels bad for the candidates and the city officials who were actually forced to be at this meeting.

Q: Mr. Federal Way, does the Mirror pay you per column or per hour?

A: None of your business.
