Centerstage Theatre will present two performances of “Albert Einstein: The Practical Bohemian” featuring actor Ed Metzger on Sept. 12 and Sept. 13.

When Metzger grew up in Brooklyn, he developed an interest in medicine, which became his major at the University of Alabama and the University of Florida. However, the acting bug bit him and he moved to Los Angeles where he trained at the Pasadena Playhouse. Eventually, he returned to New York and studied at the Actors Studio with the method master Lee Strasberg.

Metzger never expected that years later his scientific education would be used in the theater. He created his first one-man show, “Einstein: The Practical Bohemian,” which premiered in Los Angeles before moving Off-Broadway.

Metzger is the only actor who has ever received an endorsement from the Einstein family for his ability to personify the most famous man of the 20th Century. Metzger leads viewers into the mood of the great man and brings insight into Einstein’s history. Einstein’s first cousin said that the family “felt as though they were in the presence of their dear cousin Albert.”

A veteran actor, Metzger possesses the necessary talent to carry off his famous Einstein interpretation with wild hair and all.

In addition to stage appearances as Einstein, Metzger has brought the renowned professor to life in feature films “Watchmen and Joe’s Rotten World,” as well as on television in “Everybody Hates Chris,” “The Super Mario Bros,” “Newton’s Apple” and “Movie Magic.”

With Metzger’s ongoing interest and talent to create portrayals of historical visionaries, he has portrayed President Theodore Roosevelt in Brad Pitts’ film “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” On television, Metzger portrayed the first president of the United States, George Washington, in “The Super Mario Bros. Super Show.”

“Albert Einstein: The Practical Bohemian” will run at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13 at Centerstage, 3200 SW Dash Point Road, Federal Way. All tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for youth 25 years and younger.
