As part of a sweepstakes, Amy Feuerborn and Janice Gardner were selected for a two-minute shopping spree (with a $500 limit) July 15 at Fred Meyer in Federal Way. They stocked up on plenty of meat, among other items.
Federal Way residents Suzanne Kincaid and Charlee Olim, both volunteers for the Multi-Service Center Food Bank, received a $500 shopping spree to benefit the charity. The duo stocked up on diapers and baby supplies.
Tricia Schug, communications manager for Multi-Service Center, provided this statement regarding the food bank’s service:
Comparing the first half of 2010 with the first half of 2009, we’ve had a 13 percent increase in the number of very young children (newborn to age 2) we serve at the food bank. We have served 4,281 of these very young children in the first half of 2010. We try to give out diapers, formula and jarred food when we can, but sometimes have only enough to give out one diaper per child to a family. Also, we have a desperate need for larger sized diapers for bigger/older children.
