The following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

Mom’s creepy boyfriend: At 1:01 a.m. on Oct. 25 in the 31800 block of 21st Avenue Southwest, a female, unknown age, called police to report she woke up to her mother’s boyfriend touching her legs and stomach as he made sexual comments to her. The female agreed to give police a written statement and is cooperating with the investigation.

Case of the missing lunch: At 9:08 a.m. on Oct. 25 in the 31900 block of 6th Avenue South, a woman reported a cafeteria tray of food was missing from a day care. She believes a transient saw the tray sitting out and entered through an unsecured window to steal the food. There was no damage to the window, nor was there suspect information or leads.

Thief snags new nails: At 12:20 p.m. on Oct. 25 at 28853 Military Road S., the owner of Lynn’s Nail Design told police a woman stole $15 worth of nail services. The woman went into the nail salon to have her nail’s filled but only paid $10 in cash. She tried to pay the remaining $15 on an American Express gift card, but the salon wouldn’t accept it. She told employees she was going to get the rest of the money from her car, but she never returned.

Facebook friends aren’t real friends: At 7:03 p.m. on Oct. 25 in the 32200 block of Military Road South, a victim was robbed of $400 by a Facebook acquaintance. The suspect pointed a black semi-automatic pistol at the victim and a second subject took the victim’s money and backpack. The two suspects fled in a silver Chevrolet Malibu.

Students bring weapons to school: At 7:41 a.m. on Oct. 26 at Thomas Jefferson High School, officers responded to a fight at the school. During an “administrative search” of the students, police found two dangerous weapons on two different students. The case was forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor’s office.

Suicidal man withdraws from heroin: At 10:26 a.m. on Oct. 26 in the 800 block of Southwest 307th Street, a man was involuntarily committed. He said he was suffering from heroin withdrawals and thought about killing himself. When police spoke to him, he denied wanting to kill himself but that he did need help with his addiction, however, his father was able to provide several text messages that showed his son had been suicidal.

Welfare check ends in arrest: At 7:50 p.m. on Oct. 26 in the 2200 block of South Commons, Target security conducted a welfare check on a woman “who was passed out in the women’s restroom.” Witnesses told police they believe the woman was using illegal drugs and requested she be trespassed from the mall. The woman gave police a false name, but police were able to track down her real name and learned she had several Federal Way warrants for which she was arrested. Officers found she had attempted to steal Target items and was also in possession of drug paraphernalia.

Shoplifter with heroin arrested: At 8:47 p.m. on Oct. 26 at the 100 block of Southwest Campus Drive, a woman was arrested for shoplifting at Winco. As police searched her, they found she was in possession of heroin.

Missing toddler found on bus: At 9:48 a.m. on Oct. 27 at an unknown location, a Metro bus driver saw a male toddler run into her bus. The driver took the boy onto her bus and waited for several minutes but the boy’s guardian never came. The driver finished her route and told dispatch who called police. Police returned the child to his mother, who is from Des Moines and “eventually noticed her child was missing.”

Student starts fire: At 11:49 p.m. on Oct. 27 in the 35900 block of 16th Avenue South, a student admitted to starting a fire in the boy’s restroom by lighting several paper towels in fire and putting them in the sink. The fire was extinguished by the school’s custodian and all students and staff evacuated the building. No one was injured nor was there property damage.

Assistant principal witnesses girl fight: At 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 28 at 35999 16th Ave. S., a female student was struck from behind by another female student while she was being contacted by the assistant principal. The student who struck the other girl admitted to the assault and said the reason she hit the victim is because the victim and her mother were harassing her.

Man robbed at gunpoint: At 9:41 a.m. on Oct. 28 in the 2400 block of South 312th Street, a male was hanging out with his girlfriend at Steel Lake Park when he was robbed by another male he knew from high school. The suspect got into the victim’s car, produced a handgun and robbed the victim of his wallet. The suspect’s friends surrounded the victim’s vehicle and also robbed him of a long board, iPhone case and Samsung Galaxy phone while the suspect held a gun toward the victim.

Three boys duke it out at school: At 12:21 p.m. on Oct. 28 at 35999 16th Ave. S., three male students got into a fight after one accidentally hit another student in the face with a cord as he swung it. The student who was hit by the cord yelled and was punched by a third student. The first student was checked out by South King Fire and Rescue because he had previously suffered an unrelated injury to his head the day before.

Female pistol whipped, robbed at gunpoint: At 1:04 p.m. on Oct. 29 in the 34200 block of 1st Place South, a female victim told police she was robbed at gunpoint and pistol whipped by her assailant, who fled the seen in a black sedan.

Police find woman with gunshot wound: At 1:07 a.m. on Oct. 30 in the 29200 block of Military Road South, a woman’s right leg was shot. Officers responded to reports of a fight and sounds of gunshots. During their investigation, they found the woman nearby. She was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.

Daughter bites, strikes mother holding baby: At 6:27 p.m. on Oct. 30 in the 28400 block of 18th Avenue South, a woman told police her adult daughter struck her in the face and bit her while she was holding her infant son.
