The following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:
That can’t taste good: At 2:40 a.m. on Oct. 3 in the 1200 block of South 320th Street, police arrested a female suspect who was reported by Safeway as a shoplifter. Officers located and detained the woman. When being placed into police custody she told officers she swallowed a metal bracelet she was wearing. She was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Rock hound caught by police: At 9:29 a.m. on Oct. 3 in the 35000 block of Enchanted Parkway South, officers responded to calls of rocks being thrown at vehicles and nearby businesses. Multiple witnesses and victims successfully identified the suspect.
New house needs work already: At 6:29 p.m. on Oct. 3 in the 2100 block of Southwest 338th Street, Officers responded to a house call where the victim said multiple windows were broken at the home they recently purchased. The victim told officers they were not yet living in the new house, and estimated the damage at approximately $800.
More than just a traffic violation: At 9:38 p.m. on Oct. 3 in the 33000 of Pacific Highway South, police stopped a vehicle for a simple traffic violation. When the driver was found to have multiple third degree warrants, officers arrested the suspect and book them into SCORE Jail.
No such thing as a roof fairy: At 10:52 p.m. on Oct. 3 in the 32000 block of 17th Avenue Southwest, officers responded to reports of suspicious activity. A man told police he believed someone has been walking on his roof at night for the past month. He told police when he went to investigate one morning, it appeared as though someone wiped the man’s sky light in an attempt to look in his home. He also told officers his recycle bin had been moved and there appeared to be a shoe print on the top of the bin. Officers did not find any other suspicious activity.
Hungry guy goes to jail: At 11:13 p.m. on Oct. 3 in the 31000 block of Pacific Highway South, police arrested a suspect after attempting to break in to a local restaurant. Officers caught the man and booked him into SCORE Jail.
Wrong time to complain: At. 1:19 a.m. on Oct. 4 in the 35000 block of Pacific Highway South, a man called police to report a suspicious activity. Upon arrival, police ran the information of the man who called in the complaint. The caller was found to have a warrant out of Kent for major theft. Police arrested the called and booked him into the Kent SCORE Jail.
Wrong time to fall asleep: At 3:07 a.m. on Oct. 4 in the 31000 block of 21st Avenue Southwest, officers responded to calls of a suspicious man in a van. When police arrived, they found the man to be asleep in the van, with a black pistol in plain sight. Upon a search, the officers found a large quantity of methamphetamine. He was arrested and booked in SCORE Jail.
Dancing worker has a warrant: At 9:21 a.m. on Oct. 4 in the 28000 block of Military Road South, police were called to the Safeway for a man thought to be shoplifting. Officers found the man dancing near the backroom entrance. After doing a check on the man, he was found to have active warrants out of Tukwila for missing multiple court dates. He was arrested an booked into SCORE Jail.
Always have working security cameras: At 7:42 a.m. on Oct. 7 in the 28000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers responded to a complaint that a man’s vehicle had been broken into. Upon arriving, the victim told police all doors were locked, but the car’s camper shell was broken in to. The victim told police the security cameras on the property do not work, and there were no witnesses.
Not the average fall leaf: At 2:07 p.m. on Oct. 7 in the 30000 block of 11th Avenue Southwest, a man called police to report a plastic bag with four marijuana plants inside was left on the street in front of his home. But police only found stalks and roots, as the tops of the plants appeared to be cut off and missing.
Males with pants on the ground in back yard: At 6:55 a.m. on Oct. 8 in the 500 block of Southwest 327th Place, a resident called 911 to report suspicious persons on his property. The resident didn’t see them directly, but his camera system recorded two males walk into his back yard, approach his sliding door, and try to open it. They did not make entry. The two males were wearing hoods pulled tightly around their heads to conceal their identities, white tennis shoes, and “pants sagging halfway down their buttocks.” Pictures of the males were posted to the SafeCity website and additional patrol will be performed in the area.
Missing man may be on cocaine binge: At 9:40 a.m. on Oct. 8 in the 31000 block of 13th Avenue South, a woman reported her husband was not coming home after “multiple days.” She said he’d done this in the past due to a cocaine addiction, but it “had been approximately three years since the last time he left on a drug binge but… it showed all the signs of it happening again.” The woman said a friend had seen her husband walking in Downtown Seattle on Oct. 7 but she had no further information. The woman declined to file a missing person report at that point and said she wished to have paperwork listing the circumstances in case this becomes more.”
The Fast and the Arrested : At 3:39 on Oct. 8 in the 33000 block of 38th Avenue South, a citizen reported a white BMW, a white Volvo and another white car were driving unsafely in a roundabout – “doing doughnuts,” the witness said. Officers arrived and saw a white BMW and a white Subaru parked near the roundabout, and the officer reported being able to smell “burnt rubber on both vehicles’ tires” when he approached the drivers. The Subaru driver admitted to “drifting” and the BMW driver was found to have an outstanding misdemeanor warrant out of Auburn. The BMW driver, a 17-year-old male, was arrested and booked into King County Juvenile Detention without incident.
Built for comfort, not speed: At 3:10 a.m. on Oct. 9 in the 1600 block of South 304th Street, an officer observed a male asleep at the wheel of a large moving truck. The man was arrested for DUI.
Always lock up: At 10:05 a.m. on Oct. 10 in the 900 block of South 293rd Street, police responded to a report of a vehicle theft. The victim told officers his pistol was stolen, but it was probably because he left his car unlocked.
Man unsure how windows were broken: At. 4:43 p.m. on Oct. 10 in the 29000 block of 18th Avenue South, officers responded to a man who said his car window had been broken while he was home. The victim told police nothing appeared to be taken from the vehicle.
Not the mailbox: At 4:56 p.m. on Oct. 10 in the 30000 block of 10th Avenue South, police responded to a call from a victim who said their mailbox had been destroyed. Upon examination, officers discover it was a lockable mailbox, and it appeared to have been pried open. The victim said they didn’t believe anything important was taken as very little mail had been coming recently.
