Two years ago, FUSION Décor Boutique opened its doors here in Federal Way.
Since that time, the nonprofit has received numerous donations of gently used home furnishings and has watched its customer base grow and grow. FUSION’s housing for homeless families program has reaped the benefits of proceeds from the shop, and the group now owns and operates 19 housing units.
For its anniversary, FUSION is inviting the community to visit the boutique and celebrate its success. The FUSION Décor Boutique (1823 Gateway Center Blvd.) will be open this Friday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., serving anniversary cake and giving community members the chance to browse through the store.
FUSION, which stands for “Friends United to Shelter the Indigent, Oppressed, and Needy,” is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) that was founded in 1993 to “provide housing and support services to the homeless in our community so they will have a safe, secure environment as they work toward self-sufficiency,” according to the group’s website. It set up the FUSION Décor Boutique to provide “a unique shopping experience, but also engages new volunteers, and creates visual awareness for the FUSION mission in the community it serves.”
