The Federal Way Community Caregiving Network will hold its 17th annual “Souper” Supper on Friday, Oct. 28, from 5:30-8 p.m. at Steel Lake Presbyterian Church (1829 S. 308th St.).
A large variety of soups, all donated from local restaurants, will be served. The featured speakers will be Federal Way Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Tammy Campbell and Auburn Youth Resources Development Director Michael Jackson.
The event will include $20 raffle tickets for the chance to win $1,000. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward supporting the Network’s Emergency Services and Meals Programs effort that rents limited temporary housing and offers transportation, hygiene/laundry and food assistance to people in need in the Federal Way Community.
The Network, which has been active for 28 years, is an all-volunteer nonprofit that is active in the community almost every day of the week. It serves over 700 households annually.
“We have three free meals – Monday and Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoon – serving approximately 12,000 meals annually,” Linda Murphy, FWCCN emergency services coordinator, said. “On Tuesday and Friday mornings we are open in the mornings to help those in need with rental assistance, limited motel stays, gasoline, bus tickets, resource information, food and a light breakfast.”
Tickets are $30 per person; $250 reserves a table for eight. For more information or to reserve a ticket, contact soupersuppertickets@gmail.com or Michele Hinz 253-740-0667, or visit www.fwccn.org.
