Shots were fired Thursday night at a vigil for Dennis Sloboda, a 33-year-old man who was murdered Monday, Federal Way police confirmed.

Cathy Schrock, a spokeswoman with the Federal Way Police Department, said a house was struck but no one was injured.

“At approximately 7:50 p.m., police responded to a report of shots fired call in the 32200 block of 46th Place Southwest,” Schrock said. “This location is approximately ½ mile north of the homicide which occurred on Monday evening, where a family vigil was being held.”

Schrock said investigators determined around five or six shots were heard. About eight people were at the vigil at the time.

“Officers have processed the scene of the shooting for the collection of evidence,” Schrock said. “There is nothing to suggest that there is a link or connection between tonight’s incident and Monday’s homicide. However, at this early stage of the investigation, nothing is being ruled out.”

Anton Sloboda, Dennis Sloboda’s brother, was at the vigil Thursday.

“We are scared,” he said. “On the memorial there [are] suspects on bikes. Shot at the house. Cops blocked the road. It’s crazy… they shot four times at the house passing my family standing by memorial.”

The vigil was on Hoyt Road, the same place Dennis Sloboda was found dead in a vehicle with a fatal gunshot wound.

Police said they believe the Federal Way resident was killed in a road-rage incident. According to his family, hours before his death, Dennis Sloboda got into an argument with a man who pulled a gun on him.

He went to his family’s house to cool down for about an hour and was shot while on his way to visit his newborn son and wife at the hospital at around 10:25 p.m. that night.
