Franciscan Health System names new regional chief information officer

Rand Strobel is the new regional chief information officer for Catholic Health Initiatives Region Five, which includes Franciscan Health System. He began his new role on Jan. 21.

Strobel has 25 years of experience in health care information technology, most recently serving as the vice president and chief information officer at the University of Washington Medicine Valley Medical Center. He has also served in senior management positions with PeaceHealth in Bellevue.

Strobel is a member of the College of Health Care Information Management Executives and a member of the CIO Council of PACLAB, a regional medical laboratory consortium.

“Rand Strobel has the knowledge and IT experience to help us move forward into this new age of electronic records management,” said Joseph Wilczek, chief executive officer for Franciscan Health System. “His expertise in the Epic enterprise suite of applications will help us ensure that we continue to provide our patients the highest quality of care.”

Strobel received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Union College in Lincoln, Neb. He earned his master’s of business administration from Webster University in St. Louis, Miss.

Franciscan Health System includes Francis Hospital in Federal Way.
