On May 26, the Tacoma News Tribune carried this headline on the front page: “City rebukes Arizona.” Side by side, there is another headline: “Obama will send 1,200 troops to help on the US-Mexican border.”

Is it not ironic that these two headlines should appear side by side?

I am convinced that the 1,200 troops would never have happened if Arizona had not raised the issue.

Let us hope that the City Council of Federal Way keeps its nose out of Arizona.
