The annual charity event raised about $5,000 for homeless shelters and services, according to Nancy Jaenicke, executive director for Reach Out Federal Way.

“I thought it was really cool to see the high schools so engaged,” Jaenicke said about the fundraising effort. “These youth understand and support the homeless in the community.”

Students from Decatur and Thomas Jefferson high schools shared the winning trophy as the top two high school fundraising teams at Rollermania. The top fundraising team overall was the City Hall Rollers, comprised of city employees. The largest team was Team Lolo. Federal Way Mirror sales rep Cindy Ducich, who fell and broke her hip at last year’s event, received an official I Survived Reach Out Rollermania T-shirt.

For the second year in a row, Allen Schauffler of King 5 News served as the emcee.
