The following is a sample from the Federal Way police public information log:
• At 12:36 p.m. June 18 at 31910 Gateway Center Blvd. S., it was reported that a suspect checked into the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel on Nov. 1, 2007, and a month later owed for the stay. The suspect paid half of what was owed, signed a promissory note to pay the rest and was allowed to stay longer. The suspect left the hotel May 14, 2008, without paying the full balance owed: $10,823. Approximately $20,000 was paid by the suspect during the six-month stay.
• At 4:58 a.m. June 18 at 3100 S.W. Dash Point Road, police responded to assist the fire department with a vehicle fire. A green Acura Integra was damaged by fire. The car had no occupants, license plates or vehicle identification numbers. It was towed.
• At 10:05 a.m. June 18 at 1100 S.W. 312th St., police responded to a victim that stated a subject choked him and attempted to steal his wallet. The subject and others fled on foot and then in a vehicle. Police ensued. At one point, the driver made a U-turn and struck a police vehicle, then fled on foot again. A K-9 unit was called in and the suspects were captured.
• At 12:15 p.m. June 18 at 33500 10th Ave. S.W., police responded to two suspects seen burglarizing a house. The suspects were seen loading video equipment over a fence and into a parked car. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but it took off on a high-speed chase to Glen Park Apartments, where the car struck a guardrail. The occupants bailed from the car and one was found on the BPA Trail.
• At 3:55 p.m. June 18 at 4200 S.W. 320th St., it was reported that Decatur High School students tried to steal another student’s bicycle.
• At 10:53 p.m. June 18 at 28719 Military Road, a victim was approached by two females who demanded the victim’s car keys and wallet. One suspect produced a six-inch knife. The victim handed over the requested objects. The keys belonged to a vehicle not owned by the victim.
• At 2:03 p.m. June 16 at 220 S. 346th Lane, a report was made that a radio, iPod Nano, death certificate and car title were stolen from a vehicle.
• On June 16 at 29123 9th Place S., a victim reported that an unknown suspect painted a swastika on the victim’s garage door in red paint sometime during the night. The victim stated the problem had been an ongoing one among neighbors in the previous two days, and had occurred the previous day at the victim’s residence. That racial epithet had been painted over before the swastika appeared.
• At 9:24 a.m. June 16 at 2111 S.W. 352nd St., a coin-operated washing machine was found broken with its change missing. The hoses were cut and water was running onto the floor. This is the third time such an incident has happened at this apartment complex. No suspects or witnesses were identified.
• At 6:48 on June 15, a male victim reported two of his vehicles, both parked in front of his residence, were vandalized with washable paint. On one vehicle appeared to be a drawing of a penis as well as racial slurs. The other vehicle suffered a broken window.
• At 4:13 p.m. June 15 at 2400 S. 312th St., a 5-year old boy was observed running across two lanes of heavy traffic. He appeared lost and police attempted to locate his parents. The boy did not know his name, phone number or the name of his mother. He suffered no injuries. No other information was provided in the police report.
