Man arrested for robbing store employee at knifepoint: At 2:40 a.m. on Nov. 23 in the 34000 block of 16th Ave. S., police responded to a report of a robbery at knifepoint that occurred at Walmart. Loss Prevention stated they observed a black male placing items inside a backpack. The man then exited the store, passing open cash registers and making no attempt to pay for the merchandise.

Loss Prevention chased the male, who then produced a box cutter-style knife and threatened the officer with it. Police set a perimeter and apprehended the suspect after a short K-9 track. His stolen merchandise totaled $81.07. The man, who is homeless, is facing charges of first-degree robbery.

DUI rollover collision: At 6:34 a.m. on Nov. 23 at 3700 SW 340th St., police were called to the scene of a rollover collision involving one vehicle. Police determined the driver was possibly under the influence. A witness reported the suspect’s vehicle swerved into her lane, almost hitting her head on. The vehicle then corrected, spun and rolled over. The driver was arrested for DUI. Police obtained a search warrant for blood samples and retrieved two vials of blood from the driver. The case was forwarded to state prosecutors.

Suspect hides mysterious item in bra: At 10:38 a.m. on Nov. 23 in the 27000 block of Pacific Highway S., a woman requested police do a civil standby with her roommate. The standby was completed and police found the roommate had an active warrant for $5,100 through the Federal Way Police Department. She was taken into custody.

A search of her person found a small unknown item concealed in her bra. The officer could feel the item was not a weapon but was unable to remove the item due to the sensitive location. She was taken to SCORE jail, where staff removed a small bag of marijuana concealed in her bra. The marijuana, which weighed 1.84 grams, was placed into evidence for safekeeping.

Barefoot woman in disarray after bar fight: At 3:07 p.m. on Nov. 23 at 2600 S. 272nd St. An officer met with the Kent Police Department to take custody of a suspect, who had an active warrant out of Federal Way. She was placed into custody and the officer noted she was not wearing shoes or socks. She was only wearing a blue dress, which had a rip on one of the straps that was causing the dress to fall below her breasts.

She smelled strongly of alcohol and advised the officer that she must have gotten into a fight while out at some bars in Kent. She complained that she broke her nails during the fight. She was turned over to SCORE jail staff and did not provide any further information regarding the previous night.

Woman captures mail thief on camera: At 10:43 a.m. on Nov. 22 in the 2300 block of SW 339th St., a resident called 911 because she witnessed a suspect drive up in a car, reach into the victim’s mailbox and steal her mail. The suspect quickly drove east on Southwest 339th Street. The resident described the suspect as a black female, between the ages of 20-30, with tan or blonde hair and wearing a dark sweater. The victim showed police video surveillance of the suspect.

Thief smokes cigarette with employee during heist: At 3:50 p.m. on Nov. 22 at 35419 21st Ave. SW, an Ace Hardware employee called police to report a theft that occurred on Nov. 19. A male suspect entered the store and concealed several Craftsman tools in his jacket, valued at approximately $150. The suspect spoke to employees for a while and even smoked a cigarette with an employee during his or her break. The suspect then re-entered the store and turned the surveillance camera away from him and stole the items.

Woman claims “coyotes” threatening brother: At 12:43 p.m. on Nov. 22 in the 30000 block of 20th Ave. S., a woman called 911 to report that someone calling from Phoenix, Arizona was making threats against her brother, who lives in Mexico. The woman didn’t specify what the threats were and only wanted documentation of the incident. She did not want anything further, as she feared potential retaliation from the unknown callers, whom she believes are “coyotes.” The woman has since contacted her brother, who was safe.

Suspicious man in black leaves footprint: At 5:09 p.m. on Nov. 22 in the 34000 block of 20th Ave. SW, a neighbor reported seeing a suspicious male wearing all black and gloves, leaving the neighbor’s backyard by jumping over the fence. No one was home at the address, but the neighbors checked the yard and located a back door to the home that was slightly ajar. They contacted the homeowners, who responded. A footprint was located on the fence in the backyard where the suspect jumped the fence. Police could not locate the suspect.

Woman reports Kenyan cousin missing: At 10 a.m. on Nov. 21 in the 29000 block of Pacific Highway S., a woman went to the police station and reported her cousin as missing. The cousin is visiting from Kenya and arrived into the country on July 11. She was last seen on Nov. 12. The family received a generic text message from the woman’s cellphone on Nov. 17. She did not mention her location, nor her physical condition. The family described her as quiet and shy.

Reckless burning: At 12:30 p.m on Nov. 17 at 33645 20th Ave. S., an unknown male suspect set a fire in the dumpster on the south side of the Christian Faith Center Church. The dumpster is approximately 8 feet away from the main building in an enclosed and unlocked loading bay.

The suspect stayed near the fire and stoked it for about one-and-a-half hours. Then he walked around to the east side of the building, entered an unlocked pickup truck and attempted to hot-wire it, causing damage.

Video game rage: At 12:40 p.m. on Nov. 17 in the 27000 block of Pacific Highway S., a male scared his sister and mother after he got angry over doing poorly on a video game. He threw around items inside the house as he raved and argued with his mother. He left the apartment prior to police arrival. His mother said he has anger management issues and she is going to look into getting him help. No injuries were reported.
