Soroptimist International of Federal Way will present its Ruby Award to State Sen. Tracey Eide (D-District 30) on Saturday for her efforts to fight human trafficking. Eide sponsored Senate Resolution 8611, adopted during the 2009 legislative session, where the Washington State Senate recognized organizations and individuals who fight daily against human trafficking. In 2008, Eide was asked to be a guest speaker at a Soroptimist meeting where the topic of discussion was human trafficking. She will be honored during the club’s annual scholarship and awards tea event 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 1 at Twin Lakes Golf and Country Club.
