Man suffers 2 gunshot wounds in Federal Way | Suspect still at large

Federal Way police are investigating a shooting that occurred around 10:30 p.m. Friday in the area of 27500 Pacific Highway South, according a police spokeswoman.

A 39-year-old man was shot around 10:30 p.m. May 13 at the Federal Way Park and Ride located at 27500 Pacific Highway South. The man suffered two gunshot wounds to the chest. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and treated for his injuries.

According to reports, the unnamed victim said he was approached by a tall slender man who asked for his wallet. When the victim refused to give up his wallet, he was shot. The victim then drove to a nearby McDonald’s where he asked for help. There were no eyewitnesses, and an initial K-9 search of the area yielded no suspects.

Police were busy investigating the incident Monday. Federal Way police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock indicated illegal activity was most likely the cause of the attack.

“We have been able to confirm that the victim was involved in criminal activity related to drugs,” Schrock said.

Detectives were out conducting follow up interviews and reviewing video evidence on Monday. No suspect had been identified as of Monday afternoon.
