Jerry Warren named 2011 Assistant Principal of the Year

Jerry Warren honored: The Washington Association of Secondary School Principals has selected Federal Way High School’s Jerry Warren as the 2011 Assistant Principal of the Year. The association annually recognizes outstanding school leaders who have succeeded in providing high-quality learning opportunities for students. Among his contributions are a comprehensive minority student program, which included setting up a mentoring program that matches African American students and minority community professionals; a minority forum; a program that matches successful 12th-graders with 9th-graders entering high school; and a non-traditional careers exploration event. Warren is also credited for establishing an accessible parent involvement plan, a streamlined discipline model, and a model athletic program focusing on the “student” in student athlete. In August, Warren will begin as principal of Illahee Middle School.
