PREP SPORTS WRAP: Beamer’s Taylor Davis no-hits Curtis during 2-0 win

Sophomore Taylor Davis was unhittable Monday afternoon — literally.

Davis led the Todd Beamer baseball team to a 2-0 win over the Curtis Vikings in South Puget Sound League South Division action by throwing seven no-hit innings.

Davis struck out 11 Curtis hitters Monday and walked only three, while throwing just 93 pitches. The win moves the Titans to 5-5 overall and 4-3 in the SPSL South.

Offensively, it was senior Drew Hoefel finished 2 for 3 with both of Beamer’s RBIs. Ben Arata ended up 2 for 3 with a run and Jarred Prather tallied the Titans’ other run. Kepa Sharpe finished with three stolen bases.

It was also the second year in a row that a Beamer pitcher has thrown a no-hitter against Curtis. Last season, then-senior Matt Bower no-hit the Vikings.

Jefferson — Kentlake tallied two runs in the top of the eighth inning to beat the Raiders, 4-2.

Jefferson (3-6 overall, 1-6 SPSL North) finished with just five hits during the game and three came from senior Hunter Henry, who was 3 for 4 with a double. T.J. Byrne was 1 for 1 with a run and Jordan Price finished with an RBI.

Travis McCauley threw 6 1/3 innings and allowed only one earned run. Price took the loss on the mound.

Soccer

Federal Way — The unbeaten Eagles rolled to a 9-0 win over the Bethel Braves Monday night. Federal Way (7-0-0) got two goals each from Handson Pelogi and Odasson Pelogi and single goals from Edwin Ortiz, Luis Sanchez, Corey Kim and Jose Sanchez. Bethel also tallied an own goal.

Decatur — The Gators opened their SPSL 3A season with a 1-0 win over the Peninsula Seahawks Monday. The win moved Decatur to 3-2-0 on the season.

Beamer — The Titans suffered a 1-0 loss to the Spanaway Lake Sentinels Monday night at Federal Way Memorial Stadium.

The lone goal of the game came from Logan Stegner. The loss drops Beamer to 4-2-2 on the season.

Softball

Beamer — The Titans (8-1 overall, 6-0 SPSL South) needed just five innings to beat the Curtis Vikings, 12-2, to remain atop the SPSL South Division. Madison Rogers allowed just two hits on the mound, striking out 11, and was also 2 for 3 with four RBIs at the plate.

Jourdin Hering finished 2 for 3 with a triple and RBI and Maddy Colson was 1 for 3 with a triple, four RBIs and two runs for Beamer. Morgan Vance and Megan Jewett-Chan also scored two runs each.

Jefferson — The Raiders lost a slugfest Monday to the Kentlake Falcons, 27-20. The two teams combined for 42 hits and 11 errors during the game.

Kyleigh Carbon finished 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs and Katie Jackson was 3 for 5 with a home run and three RBIs for the Raiders.

Federal Way — The Eagles (2-6 overall, 0-5 SPSL South) were beaten by Graham-Kapowsin Monday, 15-3 in six innings. Federal Way finished with four hits.
