The Thomas Jefferson gymnastics team remained unbeaten at 7-0 on the season with a sweep of Decatur and North Thurston Wednesday night.
The Raiders tallied 160.45 points inside the TJ gym to easily outdistance Decatur (145.25) and North Thurston (133.10). The point total was the second best of the season for the Raiders, who finished with 163.85 during an earlier sweep of Olympia, Tahoma and Kentwood.
Madi Kellar was the star of Wednesday’s three-team meet. Kellar won the all-around competition with a total of 35.55 points and also finished first on the balance beam, uneven bars and floor exercise. Kellar totaled a 9.3 on the beam, scored an 8.1 on the bars and an impressive 9.5 on the floor exercise. She also finished second on the vault with a 8.65.
Jefferson also got a second-place finish in the all-around from Monica Church. The freshman finished with 33.5 points, including a first-place finish in the vault with a 9.0. Church also had second-place finishes on the bars (6.7), beam (8.6) and was third on the floor (9.2).
Decatur’s Holly Phan placed third in the all-around with 32.05 points, Jefferson’s Shelby Church was fourth (31.85) and Decatur’s Victoria Braun was fifth (29.4).
The Todd Beamer gymnastics team also had another impressive sweep Wednesday over Tahoma and Kentlake. The Titans finished with 158.05 points to finish ahead of Tahoma (156.8) and Kentlake (146.75).
Beamer’s Cassie Peterson easily won the all-around with 35.95 points, including event wins on the uneven bars (8.2), balance beam (9.8), floor exercise (8.95) and vault (9.0).
Jessica Freeborn finished in third place on the uneven bars with a 7.8.
