The following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

Runaway son: At 12:15 a.m. on Feb. 22 in the 1700 block of SW 357th Court, a mother reported her son had ran away. She said he went to a nearby elementary school at 4 p.m. that day to hang out with his friend but by midnight, she still hadn’t heard from him. She told police he was diagnosed with ADHD and behavioral issues but is not medicated or has a history of medical conditions. He does, however, have a history of running away, according to the police report. The boy was last seen wearing a black and white checkered shirt.

Woman punches boyfriend: At 12:10 a.m. on Feb. 22 in the 100 block of S. 337th Lane, a woman was arrested for punching her boyfriend in the face. She said she did it to calm him down, as they were in a verbal argument. The man had visible injuries.

Drunk man pepper-sprayed at AMPM: At 1:06 a.m. on Feb. 22 in the 27200 block of Pacific Highway S., a drunk man was arrested after he entered an AMPM and became argumentative with the clerk. He had refused to pay for a drink and told the clerk to “call the cops, they will come and pay.” He then threw the cup at the clerk’s feet and pushed him before the clerk pepper sprayed him. The man was booked into SCORE jail for disorderly conduct.

Cold, drunk woman breaks window: At 3:55 a.m. on Feb. 22 in the 31200 block of 23rd Ave. S., a woman was arrested for breaking a window at the Emeritus adult living home at Steel Lake. Employees heard the sound of breaking glass and banging on the walls from a room that was supposed to be empty.

When they went to check, they discovered a woman collapsed on the ground in front of the location. Officers arrived and noted the woman seemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, as her speech was slurred and she was not fully coherent as she spoke to police. After police arrested her, she said she was trying to walk home but was cold so she “busted their window.” She also told police, “I know I gotta fix that.”

Depressed woman committed: At 8:31 a.m. on Feb. 22 in the 30300 block of 15th Court S., a 68-year-old woman was involuntarily committed because she said she was thinking of stabbing herself with a knife in the heart. She said she has been having issues with her family disowning her for about a month and that she’s been living with her ex-husband for two years, who hasn’t supported her.

Suspected meth user, shoplifter hospitalized: At 1:58 p.m. on Feb. 22 in the 1900 block of S. 314th St., a 32-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting at Walmart as well as having an active warrant. When officers arrived, they saw him on the ground, “writhing and breathing heavily.” After handcuffing him, police located the auto theft tools during a search.

As they removed the items, a “small bag of crystalline residue fell out.” After the search, he was hospitalized because South King Fire and Rescue identified an elevated heart rate at 130, likely related to suspected meth use.

Walmart staff said the man entered the store with a large silver block, took a bottle of bleach and broke it open and dumped the bleach on a block to “perhaps verify if it was real silver.” After he was detained at the office, he asked for water and then dumped a small bag of suspected methamphetamine into the water. Then he fell to the ground and began having health problems.

Woman claiming son murdered arrested: At 3:45 p.m. on Feb. 22 in the 1800 block of S. 282nd Place, a woman was arrested on a Des Moines warrant after she alleged her son had been murdered because she hadn’t seen him in two weeks. However, police discovered he was in King County Jail at the time.

Man arrested for DWLS, narcotics: At 3:50 p.m. on Feb. 22 in the 2000 block of S. 330th St., a man was arrested for driving while his license was suspended. During the arrest, police found white pills thought to be narcotics on the driver during a search.

Man attempts suicide: At 4:12 p.m. on Feb. 22 in the 1200 block of SW 308th St., a 49-year-old man was involuntarily committed after he took over 100 prescription pills in an attempt to commit suicide.

Homeless jaywalker arrested: At 6:19 p.m. on Feb. 22 in the 33000 block of Pacific Highway S., a woman was arrested on a warrant for not appearing in court. Police contacted her after they witnessed her and her friend jaywalking. Both said they were transients living in the woods.

Wife throws tiles at man near Lowe’s: At 6:41 p.m. on Feb. 22 in the 35400 block of Enchanted Parkway S., a 47-year-old man called police to report his 48-year-old wife had thrown tiles at him and bit his ear while the two were in an argument. The man was driving when he pulled over near Lowe’s and threw her stuff out of the car. She got out and he drove away to his house in Seattle and called police. When police asked him to return, he told officers he was too upset to talk about it.

Runaway girl: At 5:45 a.m. on Feb. 21 in the 29000 block of 22nd Ave. S., a mother called to report her 16-year-old daughter had ran away and that she believed her older daughter was keeping the teen from her.

Wife finds husband dead: At 10:47 a.m. on Feb. 21 in the 32800 block of Third Place S., a 69-year-old woman woke up one morning to discover her 69-year-old husband deceased. The two sleep in separate bedrooms and when she woke up to check on him, he didn’t answer and she couldn’t open the door.

After pushing harder, she saw his body on the floor. She called her ex-husband, who then called police. Officers stated there were no suspicious circumstances. Additionally, his wife told police he had a history with liver problems and was on medication.

Man pees, shakes genitals in public: At 12:45 p.m. on Feb. 21 in the 31600 block of Pacific Highway S., a 46-year-old man was arrested for indecent exposure after employees observed him urinating and shaking his penis on the side glass of Lens Crafters. They told officers the man had been an unruly customer in the past.

The police report states witnesses were shocked. Officers located the man after employees from Safeway called to report a man for disorderly conduct. The man was wearing a green leprechaun hat and had two suitcases, the same description of the suspect.

Dog bites woman in crotch: At 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 21 in the 2600 block of SW 351st Place, a woman reported her neighbor’s German shepherd dog “Scooby” had bitten her in the crotch while it was tied up in their front yard. She said she was taking out her garbage when her neighbors started talking with her. They told her Scooby wasn’t as aggressive as he used to be and were thinking of getting a second German shepherd.

She walked over to the edge of the property and the dog came toward her, wagging his tail. But all of a sudden, Scooby lunged toward the woman and bit her in the crotch and started barking at her. Her two neighbors yelled at the dog.

The woman said she didn’t suffer from any puncture wounds but was sore and her jeans had been torn. She told police this was the fourth biting from Scooby that she knew of — with one being a 6-year-old girl who was bitten on the head. The officers warned the neighbors their dog would be taken to Animal Services and suggested they not tie him in the front anymore, keep him on a muzzle in public and take him to training.

Man leaves children in car: At 6:25 p.m. on Feb. 21 in the 31800 block of Pacific Highway S., police were dispatched to a parking lot for reports that two young children had been left in the backseat of a locked vehicle. A witness said he was getting into this vehicle when he saw one of the children in a nearby car crying.

Officers noted the children were about 2 to 3 years old and were in there about five to 10 minutes before police arrived. After a short while, a male approached the car. Police asked him where he was and he said he needed to run into GameStop “real fast.” One of the children was his and the other was his stepchild.

Police explained the dangers of leaving children unattended in a vehicle and he said he understood. Ultimately, police felt there wasn’t probable cause to charge the man but forwarded the information to Child Protective Services for a followup.

Runaway daughter: At 3:45 p.m. on Feb. 21 in the 4300 block of S. 309th St., a mother reported her daughter had run away. She last saw her daughter asleep at 6 a.m. She tried to contact her at noon that day but couldn’t reach her. She went to the residence and she was gone. She told police her daughter has a history of running away.

Man sends lewd comments to girl: At 4:50 p.m. on Feb. 19 in the 2800 block of 18th Ave. S., a mother reported an unknown adult male made sexual comments and sent pornography to her 11-year-old daughter on a video chat app called Tango on the girl’s cell phone. The mother saw her daughter’s cell phone ringing and did not recognize the phone number. She saw it was the Tango app ringing and she answered the call. But she saw a male masturbating and immediately hung up.

When she looked at the app, she saw the same male had sent some lewd messages previously. The woman spoke with her daughter who denied having contact with the man and ignores the call when he calls her. The police report states the pictures on the app he sent appears to be from a different country, possibly somewhere in the Middle East and therefore the case was deemed inactive.
