Now that the vote on Twin Lakes Golf and Country Club has gone down due to a large minority of voters who saw fit to say “no,” there are people who are thinking that we can now come up with a plan that makes sense to them that will save our community.

News flash! The Twin Lakes Homeowners Association, therefore, the residents of Twin Lakes, have no control over the decisions the country club makes. Any modicum of control we might have had was presented in the proposed solution that we voted down. We are merely neighbors who happen abut the golf course.

You have no right to tell a neighbor whether they can sell their property, and we have no right to tell Twin Lakes Golf and Country Club what to do with their golf course. If they feel the situation is dire, they can abandon the fairways and there is nothing we can do, but try to control the wildlife and the height of the weeds directly adjacent to our homes.

As the inexperienced Robert Redford character in the movie “The Candidate” said after winning an election for the Senate: “Now what?”
